EDWARD GOREY GOOGLE DOODLE

EDWARD GOREY GOOGLE DOODLE: Happy Birthday, Edward Gorey!
Born on Feb 22, 1925, Gorey would have been eighty-eight now. Although my wife is not a fan, I always got his drawings and tales oddly alluring. Horrible things occurred, occasionally for no discernible reason.

Sometimes, nothing occurred. Compared to former picture books, these were strange and terrific things, something you were not sure was meant for kids despite outward appearances.

Edward Gorey expired in 2000 at the age of seventy-five, but naturally he lives on, both in his own books and in the works of whole the artists he inspired. Live near Boston? It might be worth establishing the drive out to the Edward Gorey House in Yarmouth.

Google celebrates Gorey’s birthday with a doodle: Gorey himself and the tentative Guest grace the big G, with an assortment of other characters in the others.

TODAY IS NATIONAL MARGARITA DAY

TODAY IS NATIONAL MARGARITA DAY

Announcing a NationalMargarita Day in late Feb creates about as much sense as calling for a National Chicken Consomme Day a couple of weeks later the Fourth of July: It’s just not the season for it.
Look, perhaps you are happy drinking margaritas whole year, but the best mode to enjoy one (other than on the rocks with salt) is on a sun-drenched patio in the heat of summer. And with today’s temperature just north of freezing and a wintry mix in the forecast, its curious timing. It is yet brown liquor season for a different few months!

If you are less contravened about your seasonal beverage choices, however, you perhaps interested to recognize that Stoney’s offers half-price margaritas on Fri* from 5 to 7 p.m. Elsewhere, Tortilla Coast and Cafe Deluxe are serving $5 El Jimador Margaritas whole day, Bandolero‘s house margarita is $6 from 4 to 7 p.m. and El Chucho‘s house peculiar margarita made with reposado tequila goes for $7.
